“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.
And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.” (1 John 3:16)
Serve with TFCA's Local Outreach
Are you looking for a way to serve in the local community? TFCA's Local Outreach team have designed several programs that help our parish serve our neighbors. Check out the programs listed below and join the TFCA Local Outreach team in serving our Falls Church neighbors!
‘Loving Our Neighbor’ Drives
Help address specific needs in our community. As a part of our call to "love our neighbors" this drive focuses on a specific area of need each month with a new theme, in order to direct our resources towards much needed items in our community.
During this season of transition, Local Outreach is not directly collecting donations for the Loving Our Neighbor Drive. However, the recipients of the LON donations are still operational and very glad to receive donations. We hope you will continue to give to our community through our ministry partners!
Thank you to everyone who has donated food, goods, clothing, money, and time to LON over the past four years.
How you can serve: Donate items monthly to our ministry partners.
To Donate Food and Household Goods, contact St. Anthony’s food pantry: Ubaldo Cicerno (703-820-7111). The pantry is open from 1-4 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3305 Glen Carlyn Rd., Falls Church, 22041.
To Donate Clothing, contact Safe Haven, ministry to the homeless and working poor: Rob Paxton (RPaxton@fccfc.org). The program is open to guests, volunteers, and donations Thursdays 9 am - 2 pm at First Christian Church, 6165 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, 22044.
To Donate Toiletries, Underwear, Socks or Paper Products, contact The Lamb Center, day shelter for the homeless: Dave Larrabee (DaveLarrabee@thelambcenter.org). The program is open from 8 am - 3 pm Monday thru Saturday at 3220 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, 22030.
‘Tax Help’ Program
Annually, TFCA serves our community by providing free tax filing assistance to low income families in the community. Program runs Saturdays in Feb-April 15. All volunteers are trained and IRS certified. Uncomfortable with providing Tax Help? Volunteers will be needed for other roles too!
How you can serve: Help prepare taxes, become a greeter or hostess, assist with translation (Spanish speakers much needed), or assist with program coordination.
Healing Prayer at Bailey's Crossroads Culmore Health Clinic
This ministry serves our community by providing healing prayer to low-income patients at the Culmore Clinic. This is a partnership program with Columbia Baptist Church, The Falls Church Anglican, and the Culmore Clinic. All volunteers are trained healing prayer ministers or translators.
How you can serve: assist with translation (Spanish speakers much needed), or assist with program coordination.
