Liturgical Ministries

There are many opportunities to serve in Worship and Music at The Falls Church Anglican, even if you aren't a musician!

Contact worship@tfcanglican.org if you are interested in ANY of the below volunteer positions & for more detailed information/time commitments for each.

Lector/Reader
Lectors read Scripture during all weekend services. They are trained and given their assigned reading well in advance, and generally serve once every other month. If you enjoy speaking in front of people, and have a deep love of Scripture, this may be a good ministry for you.

Lay Eucharist Minister (LEM)
Lay Eucharist Ministers serve communion to the congregation. Serving communion is a remark-able way to serve the congregation and to  experience the Eucharist  in a unique way. No previous experience is required, as all new LEMs receive training. LEMs serve one to two times a month, depending on the service.

Usher Guild
In many ways ushers are the face of The Falls Church - they greet worshippers as they enter the sanctuary, facilitate communion and receive offerings. Ushers serve four months out of the year. This is an especially good way for new worshippers to get involved.

Acolyte
Acolytes are students from 6th through 12th grades and assist the ministers in leading the congregation at Sunday morning services. From carrying the cross to receiving offering plates, acolytes are an integral part of Anglican worship. All training is provided. Serving as an acolyte is a great way to learn more about Anglican worship.

Altar Guild
Altar Guild provides care of both sanctuaries and all accessories needed for Anglican worship, like Bibles, chalices, etc. Opportunities to serve include Saturday mornings and assisting behind-the-scenes on Sunday mornings. Members typically serve one or two weekends per month.

Flower Guild
The flower ministry creates the beautiful floral arrangements seen in the church every Sunday and for special events such as wedding and funerals. Training is provided for those who have an interest but not much experience. Flower arranging usually occurs on Fridays or Saturdays.

Leaflet production
Volunteers print the Sunday morning leaflets as well as collate them. We are currently looking for more volunteers to serve once a month printing leaflets. All training is provided, and the schedule is flexible.
