Birthmothers
A Friend loves at all times. This is the call of the Birthmother Ministries, which serves women and families who face an unplanned pregnancy. Birthmothers trains volunteer "Friends" to offer one-on-one emotional, spiritual and practical support for birth moms and birth dads. When a woman contacts Birthmothers for assistance, she is invited to be matched with a Friend.
Friends listen and help. They ensure that women and families have the information and resources they need to choose life for their babies by providing access to health care professionals, adoption agencies, pregnancy care centers (PCCs), private adoption attorneys, counselors, housing and transportation resources, cross-cultural and government services.
In addition to serving as Friends, Birthmothers volunteers reach out to women in their communities, pray for birth moms and support birth moms and birth dads with practical help.
Birthmothers receives a steady stream of calls from women to its helpline as well as referrals from area agencies, such as Alexandria Hospital. The number of women who are matched with a Birthmothers Friend has tripled in the last year. There is a particularly urgent need for more trained volunteer Friends in Alexandria and Falls Church.
By joining the Birthmothers team at The Falls Church Anglican, you can offer real help and hope to a birth mom or birth dad who feels alone and confused. We need you - and so do these women and families.
For more information about Birthmothers or about becoming a Birthmothers Friend, contact: (703)261-6370, mail@birthmothers.org, or visit www.birthmotherministries.org.
