A brief description of each of the ongoing studies offered is below: ONGOING: THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY (began January 5)Location: Cherrydale Baptist Church, Arlington, VaTo ALL Thursday morning Bible study registrants: Our Children's Program is a volunteer-led effort by all the women in the Thursday morning community -- everyone registered is expected to serve at least one morning in the Children's Program. You'll have an opportunity to pick your day in the registration process. Thank you for contributing to the success of ministering to our children! We are pleased to offer the following Bible studies on Thursday mornings:Stepping Up: Psalms of the Ascent, by Beth MooreThis is an in-depth Bible study of Psalms 120-134. Traveling pilgrims sang these psalms both on the way to the great festivals of the LORD and as key elements of the worship at those festivals. Just as a song or poem can express feelings of fear, doubt, hope, and joy, these 15 psalms model how we can voice our own petitions and praises to our God, who is always available and ready to hear us. Explore the major feasts of Israel and journey with Beth through this DVD-led study. Themes of unity, joy, gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more are explored in detail. Living Relationally: Learning to Enjoy God and Others, by Betsy Stalcup, PhDThis study examines what life could be like if you had the relational skills to connect easily with God and others. Learn to live a life focused on relationships instead of one focused on success or performance. Based on a compilation of key concepts from the Life Model series, Living Relationally is for people who want to learn exercises that will transform your life through increasing maturity and attunement to God. In this class, you will begin to train your brain to receive and give joy, return to joy from distress, build joy with others, and connect better with God. Topics integrate neuroscience with the Bible, and relational exercises help rewire our brains to live in joy and peace, the quiet face of joy.Come with Me: Discovering the Beauty of Where He Leads, by Suzanne EllerIt's the ultimate invitation! Christ is calling you to a lifetime of unpredictable adventure. Now you must decide whether to accept. As you study Jesus' disciples, you'll be challenged to step back from your day-to-day worries and "to do" list; and move toward the One who promises to delight and surprise his people. This study will include occasional local service opportunities on Thursday mornings in place of the study.Babes with Babes (mothers with infants) will study Praying with the Psalms, by Tim KellerIn this study by Tim Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church we will look at rooting our prayer life deeply in the psalms and prayers of the Bible, working through selected psalms of meditation, repentance, sorrow, petition, and adoration.
