The Details
It is common to hear people ask: are Anglicans Catholic, Protestant, or something completely different? At the heart of the answer is a focus on the classic Anglican commitment to the historic Christian faith found infallibly in the Bible; a faith that is echoed and crystalized in the Creeds. But a lot of theology, history, and heresy piled up between the early New Testament church and the Middle Ages. How did Anglicans differentiate between the good, the bad, and the indifferent at the time of the Reformation? And how might knowing this give us a greater sense of our own theological identity as orthodox, biblically-faithful, Anglican Christians?
Join us as we explore five essential doctrines rediscovered at the time of the Reformation. Follow along as we use James Montgomery Boice’s book Whatever Happened to the Gospel of Grace? as a basic structure for the class. Learn how the “Solas of the Reformation”—salvation through Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, found in Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone—help strengthen and clarify our understanding of the gospel.
