The Falls Church Anglican is an active, evangelical, intergenerational, Anglican church near our nation’s capital. By God’s grace, we are a church that is alive!
Where will we be as a Church in 2050—what will we do with all we’ve been entrusted?
Praying over this question has been a stabilizing discipline for me—especially as I lead our church through demanding times. I’ve even started a letter to myself, TFCA@2050, where I dream about our future as a way to stay focused in our present. God’s purposes—not our reactions to the moment—must be our compass.
That letter has grown to seven themes. With God’s help, I long for us to be:
- A People Found Faithful — hard runners, good stewards, fruitful disciples
- A People Mature in Christ — not tossed to and fro by every wind of opinion or wave of pain; holy and whole; skilled in prayer, discipleship, and evangelism; tough yet tender
- A People Who Pass on the Faith — equipping the next generation for devotion to Christ
- A Missional People — making Jesus non-ignorable in our everyday lives
- A Serving People — meeting real needs of real neighbors
- A Church-Planting, Leader-Forming People — raising healthy pastors, establishing healthy churches
- An Influencing People — enriching global Christianity with theological and spiritual health
