The Details
In Luke 11:1, Jesus’ disciples plead with him for instruction, saying, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Jesus responds by teaching them the Lord’s Prayer.
When we pray the Lord’s Prayer (or prayers that are modeled on its teaching), we might wonder:
- What difference does it make to pray to God as ‘Father’?
- How do I ‘hallow’ the name of God?
- What does it mean for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, and what role can I play in seeing that play out?
We might wonder how Jesus’ teaching on prayer can inform our own daily prayer, asking questions like:
- How can I pray in ways that are healthy, biblical, and spiritually life-giving?
- What happens when my prayers are not answered?
- Why do I even need to pray if God already knows everything anyway?
Join us as we attend to these questions and more during this five-week Wednesday night class on the Lord’s Prayer. We’ll be using J.I. Packer’s book Praying the Lord’s Prayer as a baseline text for the class. No reading is required, however. All are welcome to simply attend and learn from the talks and Q+A. For questions, please contact John Frederick at jfrederick@tfcanglican.org.
