The Falls Church Anglican Worship Ministry is a community of worship volunteers who seek to glorify God and lead God’s people in joyful, reverent, and sincere worship. Using their unique gifts and abilities, these volunteers have a desire to support the corporate worship of God’s people during our three Sunday services, special events and more.

  • Acolyte

    Assist Clergy and Vergers in worship services (6th–12th grades).

  • Altar Guild

    Prepare elements and the Holy Table for Communion; prepare elements for Baptism.

  • Audio Assistants, Mixers, Engineers

    Help with sound and service production: placing microphones, running sound, setting up equipment.

  • Band

    Serve on worship band to help lead in contemporary worship contexts.

  • Camera Operator

    Operate remote cameras/video switcher/tripod to provide consistent, engaging video feed.

  • Classical Instrument

    Play a classical instrument (brass, strings, woodwinds, etc.) in the 9 a.m. service.

  • Flower Guild

    Prepare flower arrangements for worship services.

  • Graphics Operator

    Trigger display of text, graphics, cues, and prerecords to enable congregational participation.

  • Lighting Operator

    Activate lighting settings and presets at appropriate moments during services/events.

  • Platform Tech

    Assist with microphone placement and staging changes.

  • Singer for Adult Choir

    Sing with the Adult Choir (rehearsals Thursdays; serve Sundays; extra services during Christmas/Holy Week).

  • Singer for Messiah Sing-along: Adult Choir

    Join Adult Choir to sing Handel’s Messiah (Dec 6 and Dec 7, 2025 at 9 a.m.).

  • String Ensemble

    Use gifts on violin, viola, or cello to bless services.

  • Usher

    Serve with hospitality by assisting at worship services (greeting, guiding, helping all feel safe and at home).

Lay Liturgical Support, Worship & Music Ministry

Acolyte

Description:
Assist Clergy and Vergers in worship services (6th–12th grades).
Training:
Training by Vergers.
Time Commitment:
Monthly, ~2 hours (Sundays and special services)
Membership Status:
Member or Confirmed member.
Commitment Duration:
Minimum 1 year
Lay Liturgical Support, Worship & Music Ministry

Altar Guild

Description:
Prepare elements and the Holy Table for Communion; prepare elements for Baptism.
Training:
Training by Altar Guild leaders.
Time Commitment:
Monthly, 2–3 hours (Fri/Sat/Sun and special services)
Membership Status:
Confirmed member.
Commitment Duration:
Minimum 1 year
Production, Worship & Music Ministry

Audio Assistants, Mixers, Engineers

Description:
Help with sound and service production: placing microphones, running sound, setting up equipment.
Skills Needed:
Love of music; technically minded; enjoys behind-the-scenes.
Training:
On-the-job training; shadow current members.
Time Commitment:

Contemporary Music, Worship & Music Ministry

Band

Description:
Serve on worship band to help lead in contemporary worship contexts.
Skills Needed:
Vocals, Drums, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Piano/Keys, Strings, Brass, Other.
Training:
N/A
Time Commitment:
When serving: Wednesdays 7–9 p.m.; Sundays 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Membership Status:
Active congregant.

Indefinite
Production, Worship & Music Ministry

Camera Operator

Description:
Operate remote cameras/video switcher/tripod to provide consistent, engaging video feed.
Skills Needed:
Excellent dexterity; good eye for brightness, color, and composition.
Training:
Observation/coaching by experienced operator.
Time Commitment:
Monthly

Min 1 year (2 years preferred if training)
Traditional Music, Worship & Music Ministry

Classical Instrument

Description:
Play a classical instrument (brass, strings, woodwinds, etc.) in the 9 a.m. service.
Skills Needed:
Proficient instrumentalist; able to read music.
Training:
N/A
Time Commitment:
Occasional Sundays 8:00–10:30 a.m.; extra services during Christmas/Holy Week

Flower Guild

Description:
Prepare flower arrangements for worship services.
Training:
Training by Flower Guild leaders.

Description:
Trigger display of text, graphics, cues, and prerecords to enable congregational participation.
Skills Needed:
High attention to detail; comfortable with software; familiarity with songs/hymns.
Training:
Observe services; coaching and practice for timing/cues.
Time Commitment:
1–2 times per month

Active congregant.

Min 1 year; indefinite as desired

Lighting Operator

Description:
Activate lighting settings and presets at appropriate moments during services/events.
Skills Needed:
Familiar with theatrical/video lighting; able to distinguish color differences.
Training:
Observation and coaching from experienced team member.

Quarterly, as needed

Rehearsals Nov 6, 13, 20, 25 (8:30–9:30 p.m.) and Dec 4 (8:00–9:30 p.m.)

Usher

Description:
Serve with hospitality by assisting at worship services (greeting, guiding, helping all feel safe and at home).
Skills Needed:
Friendly; able to guide members and visitors; helpful during service.
Training:
Individual on-the-job training; occasional group training.
Time Commitment:
Sanctuary ushers serve one month each quarter; Chapel ushers ~one Sunday/month.
