What Forms do i need to complete?
There are two important forms that need to be completed for each student attending Breakaway.
1. TFCA PARENT PERMISSION FORM: Every student is required to have a 2026-27 TFCA Parent Permission form to attend Breakaway. If you have not completed a form for your student yet this ministry year, please do so at least 3 days before Breakaway departure. The form is attached on the registration site under “Resources” at the bottom of the registration page. You may upload the form at the secure link HERE or email it to Katie Toro.
2. YOUNGLIFE RELEASE FORM: In order to stay at Rockbridge overnight, every student AND adult registering must have a YoungLife release form filled out. The form is on a secure electronic platform that can be accessed via the link HERE or a link in the registration confirmation email.
- Under “Group Name” select “Breakaway High School Retreat (Feb 13)” or “Breakaway Middle School Retreat (Mar 6)”
- Under “Church Name” select “The Falls Church Anglican” for TFCA students and TFCA guests OR “Christ the King” for Christ the King students.
What is the registration Deadline?
We encourage students to register as early as possible. Knowing who is coming at least two weeks in advance helps with the planning process. If you’re seeking a scholarship, it’s best to register early.
Registration will be open until February 6 for High School and February 27 for Middle School.
What is the refund Policy
Due to the payment policy at Rockbridge, no refunds will be given after February 6 for High School and after February 27 for Middle School.
What if my student gets sick before Breakaway or during breakaway?
Before Breakaway: We kindly ask for the health of those attending that if your youth is sick, they not attend Breakaway that weekend or monitor symptoms and come at a later time. Refunds will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
During Breakaway: If your youth develops cold/flu like symptoms, they will be pulled from activities and brought to the nurse’s station. Decisions for the rest of the students in the small group will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Are Scholarships available? How do I apply?
YES! Scholarships are available to those who submit a request. If you need a scholarship, please complete the registration and answer the questions at the end of the registration process. If you request a scholarship by answering the questions, please select the option to submit a “partial payment”. By selecting this option, you will not have to submit payment at the time you register.
After registration is completed the Youth Ministry staff will be in touch about your scholarship approval. If there is any remaining balance after the scholarship is applied, you will be provided with further information on how to submit the payment for the balance.
What does the cost of the retreat cover?
The cost of the retreat covers all transportation to and from Rockbridge Springs Alum Young Life Camp, all meals at camp, lodging at camp, activity and program supplies, and registration for TFCA Youth Leaders.
It’s optional for youth to bring their own money to camp for Rockbridge’s camp store and snack shack.
How is Safety of the students prioritized?
We take the safety of our students very seriously. As a church and as a ministry, we have comprehensive policies in place to screen, train, and supervise those involved in the ministry. Every adult who serves as a leader goes through an extensive application, background check, and interview process as well as two different trainings to ensure our leaders are aware of the specific protocols that have been shown to be most effective in preventing abuse, teaching leaders what to be looking for by way of potential concerns, and educating them on how to report any concerns. And this is not a one-time event but something we talk about frequently with leaders and pray about continually.
All adults who are working as staff or volunteers at Rockbridge Alum Springs, the Young Life camp where Breakaway is held, are background checked and trained following Young Life’s strict safety protocols for both abuse prevention and safety on activities like ropes and ziplines. Our sister churches (including Restoration Anglican, Christ Church Vienna, Christ the King Alexandria, and a few others) who participate with us in Breakaway retreats are also required to meet the same requirements as TFCA for screening, training, and supervision.
If you would like more information about specific policies and procedures, please read our TFCA Youth Safety Highlights or contact Marty O’Rourke, Youth Director, with questions and concerns.
What if my student has to take medication during the weekend?
High School: Medication MAY be kept by students OR given to the nurse if they choose. If you would like it administered by the nurse, medication must be in its original bottle/packaging with the student’s name and dosage on the bottle. The medication form will be sent prior to the trip departure and copies will also be available at check-in. Medication is offered 4 times a day: during each meal, and before bed time.
Middle School: Medication MUST be kept by the nurse. Medication must be IN ITS ORIGINAL bottle/packaging with the student’s name and dosage on the bottle. The medication form will be sent prior to the trip departure and copies will also be available at check-in. Medication is offered 4 times a day: during each meal, and before bed time.

Our goal for this weekend is to be loving and inclusive. Please be mindful of the things that you pack that could be divisive (i.e. political, sexual, or inappropriate attire or items).
While we understand youth and parents may want to bring a phone to the retreats, we have a no-device policy so that youth can spend the weekend unplugged. Should your student have a medical need for a phone, smartwatch, or other device, please contact our staff at studentmin@tfcanglican.org to request an exemption from the policy.

How are the students traveling to rockbridge?
We will be traveling in coach buses. Please bring a packed dinner to eat on the bus as we travel to Rockbridge. We will not be stopping in the middle of the trip!
What if my student needs to arrive Late or leave early?
If youth are planning on arriving late or leaving early from Rockbridge, a parent should email Katie Toro, ktoro@tfcanglican.org with the following information:
- Full name of student.
- Day and time of arrival/departure
- Driver’s cell phone number and email address — Katie will email directions, including where to park and where to walk to check in/out the student).*
Per TFCA Youth Ministry policy, parents/guardians MUST drive their youth if they arrive late or leave early. NO STUDENTS are permitted to drive themselves or other students to and from Rockbridge.
Who Should I contact if I need to reach TFCA youth ministry staff or student?
Please call the Rockbridge land line, (540) 997-9276 and leave a message. In the case of emergency, our camp manager will be notified via walkie-talkie. In non-emergencies, messages will be relayed at mealtimes.
This is the best way to get in touch with a TFCA staff member. Due to the limited cell service and schedule, staff may not always be available on their cell phones.
Where is rockbridge?
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return, in person and in glory, at the end of this age for the resurrection of the dead, some to life, some to condemnation, for the glorification of God and His Church and for the renewal of the whole creation. (Jn 14:3; 1 Thess 5:23; James 5:7; Acts 1:9-11; Phil 4:5; Rev 21:1; 22:12; Matt 16:27; 24:42; 1 Cor 1:7)
Who is leading worship?
We are so excited to have the TFCA Worship Team, led by Brian Gurney, leading worship for both retreats this year!
How Can I volunteer as a parent?
There are several ways you as a parent can volunteer for the Breakaway retreats! If you are interested, please contact Katie Toro and indicate which area you’d like to serve. Katie will then be in touch with the next steps.
-
Serve at Breakaway: Qualified adult volunteers may be invited to serve as camp nurse or assistant to nurse, or to serve with the work crew (running high ropes, climbing wall, coffee shop, camp store, etc.). All volunteers are required to complete the TFCA Child Protection process, including a background investigation and two training sessions.
-
Pray for students, leaders, and staff: Parents will receive first names of students, leaders, and staff to pray for during the weekend. Prayer guidance will be provided and this volunteer opportunity can be done from anywhere all weekend!
-
Day of Check-In: Parents will help with checking in students, ensure proper paperwork is completed, and share bus assignments. Days/times needed: Friday 2/13 3:45-5:30 pm; Friday 3/6 3:45-5:30 pm.
