The Falls Church Anglican Flower Guild is run by church volunteers for the glory of God.
We serve our Lord, Jesus Christ by arranging flowers for weekly service and holidays.
Below is a brief description of time constraints which drive our work. No previous experience is necessary as we happily train the creative folks who volunteer.
Fridays about 10am – Noon: one volunteer receives our shipment and conditions the flowers – this is removing the packing material and cutting stems before placing them in water to allow them to adjust.
Friday between Noon to 5PM OR Saturday Morning – Noon: two different volunteers construct and place the arrangements for Cranmer Chapel (1) and Sanctuary (2 large).
These times are dependent on the office building, 6565, being open to the public.
Flower arranging can take up to two hours, less for the Cranmer single vase.
Normally, three different volunteers fill these roles each week. We have a monthly sign-up document.
Flower guild leaders coordinate the arrangements and provide weekly inspiration pictures/drawing for volunteer to follow. We work with new volunteers the first couple of times for training and make sure you are comfortable with the process. Annually, we gather for a workshop and social. Plus, we create/install the Christmas and Easter décor.
