Our ministry partners at the Falls Church High School are seeking volunteers to both work in the classroom and to mentor the college-capable kids. Volunteers who are willing to work indoors with students and are feeling called by God are being sought to help in these two major areas:
1) CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERING: Classroom volunteering is a commitment of one 1.5-hour class per week (or more). No preparation needed. The volunteer can choose a class, time (8 a.m.-3 p.m.), and day-of-the-week suiting their schedule. If interested, please contact Kim Bottimore (bottimorefamily@gmail.com) or Deborah Harmer (harmer.debora@gmail.com).
2) COLLEGE-CAPABLE ADVISING/MENTORING: The volunteer will work one-on-one with a student selected by the school. It will be once a week, at the school on Wednesday from 4:00-6:30 p.m. from October to March. The hope is to both build a relationship with the student, and assist them with college/community college application forms and with the scholarship hunt. If interested, please contact Sue Schwien (sueschwien@gmail.com).
