The Lord gave me a heart for the world, and an opportunity to exercise that love, first through international student ministry and then overseas, primarily in southern and east Africa.I served first through the Anglican Mission organization Sharing of Ministries Abroad (SOMA). I traveled to South Sudan with SOMA and felt called to continue to serve there. I was deeply disturbed by the enslavement of South Sudanese children who were captured and taken to Northern Sudan. Some of these children were redeemed and brought back to South Sudan with no one to care for them.

Partnering with a South Sudanese pastor and with the help of Christian friends in the States, I started an orphanage school and a clinic in a remote area of Bahr El Ghazal in South Sudan near the border with Darfur to care for 62 of these redeemed orphan children. The school has now grown to 400 orphans. We also support pastors who work with no pay in South Sudan and help support their children in school. We named the ministry Connecting Lives International Mission (CLIM).

I am in the prayer ministry at TFCA and like to make prayer ministry and Trauma Healing part of our missions there. Scott Thompson, who is part of the ministry, has traveled to South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda with me a number of times to co-lead Trauma Healing workshops for Sudanese refugees. Katrin Vandervaart from TFCA has also traveled over to South Sudan to participate in our ministry there
